At Trinity Academy we have a 7 period day, Monday – Thursday and a 4 period day on a Friday. Each day starts with morning registration with a register teacher. This is in place so that the same member of staff sees your child every or most days. This is important in our commitment of wellbeing to all pupils. This teacher is there to share messages with their pupils and be there for reassurance and a daily check-in. The register teacher can also check that a child is in uniform and is properly equipped to access the day ahead with their iPad.
50 minute periods
Each period lasts 50 minutes and your child’s day will likely include a blend of single period (50 minutes) and double period (100 minutes) learning episodes. This is then punctuated by a morning interval and lunch time.
Break time (Monday to Friday) 10:20 – 10:35
Lunch time (Monday to Thursday) 13:05 – 13:45
The school day finishes at 15:25 Monday to Thursday and 12:15 on a Friday
When your child starts in S1, they must remain inside the school grounds until they are advised otherwise. There are many changes in the running of the school day for a child coming to secondary school and we need to support them to navigate new social groups and larger spaces before we allow them to explore the wider community independently.
The School day starts at 08:30 with morning registration. We advise our pupils to be at school ahead of the 08:30 start to ensure that they don’t arrive late to registration
In S6, pupils will often have study periods. The arrangements for these are shared annually with S6.
