Parent and Carer Council - Edinburgh’s Trinity Academy

Trinity Parent and Carer Council (TAPCC) is for everyone whose child is a student at Trinity Academy.

All are welcome to join the TAPCC.

Some members have specific roles and are elected at the AGM in October.

These are:

Chair – Judith Mackinlay
Vice Chair – volunteer required
Treasurer – Morag Burnett
Secretary – volunteer required

What we do

gather and represent the views of parents
fundraise
support the school
promote communication between the school, parents, pupils, and the community
send out regular updates, emailed from the school
run a TAPCC Facebook page – you can join if you have a child at the school
represent parent and carers’ views to the school, education authority and others
help improve experiences of young people with additional support needs and their families

What we can’t do

We can’t help with individual issues about a specific child

Meetings are open. You do not have to be a member to attend.

What happens at a meeting

The head teacher gives a report. There is space for questions and comments. Then the parents and carers go through an agenda and discuss each item. Discussions are informal and everyone is welcome to contribute if they want to.

After each meeting, the minutes are emailed to all parents and carers so that everyone can find out what was discussed, decided and planned.

Join the 50:50 club

One way we raise money is through the 50:50 Club. This is a monthly lottery where 50% of the money raised goes to a winning member and 50% goes to the school to help buy equipment or pay for pupil activities.

It costs £1 per number each month and is open to any parent, carer or staff member.
