Green Plan It Competition

A group of very talented S3 pupils have spent 10 weeks planning and designing a new school garden for the Royal Horticultural Society Green Plan It Competition as part of Miss Jenkins’ Eco school Elective class.

Archie Powell, Jennifer Macdonald, Adele Doris, Zoe Zucchi and Isabella Byrne took their design to the final at the Royal Botanic Gardens on the 27th of November. The focus of their design was to create a space where pupils could relax and alleviate exam stress. They even decided on planting lots of rosemary – the reason? – it’s a herb proven to help with memory!

Despite impressing the judges with their beautiful model, display board, and a very informative speech, the team unfortunately didn’t manage to scoop a trophy.

Excitingly however, the team are now eligible to apply for funding from the RHS to be in with the chance of making their design a reality!

A huge thanks to Sarah Adamson and Cameron Tasker at the Botanic gardens for all of their advice and support over the 10 weeks.
