Next week sees the introduction of Trinity Academy’s Virtual Sports Week!!
What does this involve? – This year we will be setting up a competition called Track it Trinity which will see the three houses compete against each other to earn points.
How do you earn points? – By walking, cycling or running and recording your distance using Strava. Cycling 1km = 1 point, Walking 1km = 2 points and Running 1km = 3 points
What is Strava? – This is a free app that you can download on your smart phone/watch
How do I get involved? – Download the app, set up an account and follow “Track it Trinity – Trinity Academy Sports Week” This will allow us to track the number of kms you travel throughout the week. Make sure you indicate what house you are competing for by adding your house to your name!
Cricket season is in full swing, we have played George Watson’s and attended the beach games in the last week – a trip to Stewart Melville’s is next up after some more practice at Bangholm (Mondays after school). Remarkably we are yet to lose time to poor weather (fingers crossed this continues).
The sportscotland School Sport Award is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve physical education and school sport opportunities. We were delighted to received our Gold award from sportscotland recently. Thanks to everyone who helps support our fantastic sports programme here at Trinity Academy.
We are delighted to announce the two new Young Ambassadors for Trinity Academy for the upcoming year as Ben Liddall and Felix Hale (both S4).
Both pupils went through a long process and stood out amongst the 8 pupils interviewed for the role.
The role of a YA is to promote sport to all within the school and the community. They will be working with this year’s Sport Council in the school to encourage their peers to participate in sport and to educate on the importance of both physical and mental health & wellbeing. They will also be representing Trinity Academy in workshops, fundraising activities and more across the city.
They will join Jennifer Vietch, Isabella Shepard and Mhairi Harper in the programme who have been doing the same role during the past year.
