A letter to pupils and families of Trinity Academy - Monday 24 August 2020

It is with excitement and optimism that I join your community as Acting Headteacher of Trinity Academy.

Having worked alongside the Senior Leadership Team over the past few weeks, I am extremely grateful for the exhaustive lengths the staff have gone to in preparing our school for a safe and sensitive return.

Further to the letter parents and carers received from Lorna Sweeney on 24 June, I intend to uphold the high regard that people have for Trinity Academy’s academic achievement, social justice and equalities. With the support and input from staff, pupils, parents and partners, I am committed to building on these strengths as well as working in the pursuit of reaching new levels of success for our pupils through their secondary school journey.

Through my previous headships, I have demonstrated a commitment to building an open and honest culture of self evaluation that improves outcomes for all young people and I intended to continue to provide this same level of service at Trinity Academy.

Having spoken to pupil focus groups on Monday this week, it is clear that, almost without exception, the young people of Trinity Academy hold their school in high regard and are optimistic of what the future holds. This is a fantastic place for me to begin working with the school.

I look forward to getting to know Trinity Academy quickly over the coming weeks and will report back ahead of the October holiday on how our adaptation and renewal plans have progressed.

Yours sincerely

Mr Nick Burge
